Dear Parents: 

Redding School District is pleased to announce our Redding School District Summer School programs for all students completing TK - 7th grade in June 2024. TK - 3rd grade Summer School will be held at Manzanita School at 1240 Manzanita Hills Ave., Redding, CA 96001. 4th - 7th grade will be held at Sequoia Middle School at 1805 Sequoia St., Redding, CA 96001. 

The first day of Summer School will be Tuesday, June 11, 2024. Summer School ends Friday, July 5, 2024. School will not be held on June 19, 2024 and July 4, 2024 in recognition of national holidays. Current eighth grade students (2023-2024) are not eligible for the Summer School program. 

Students will attend age appropriate, self-contained classes. The program will focus on the academic and enrichment needs of students. The curriculum will provide reinforcement and extension opportunities for students to master District Benchmarks and State Standards. 

Summer School space is limited. Please submit the electronic enrollment form as soon as possible. All forms will be date and time stamped. Priority will be given to Foster Youth, Homeless, Low Income, and English Learners who are non-proficient in academic areas. 

The daily schedule will be from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Manzanita School and 8:15 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. at Sequoia.  A free breakfast will be served starting at 7:40 a.m. at Manzanita and 7:55 a.m. at Sequoia.  A free lunch will be served daily. 

An After School Program will be provided on a first come, first served basis. This program will run from 12:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. at Manzanita and from 12:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Sequoia daily. Please check the box on the registration form if your child will be attending the after school program.

Bus transportation for Redding School District Summer School will be available. Pick up and drop off locations will be determined based on enrollment. If you will be transporting your child, please be sure to drop off no sooner than 20 minutes prior to the start of school as there will be no supervision until that time.  If you are picking up your child please be sure to pick up promptly at dismissal time.  

Completed Summer School registration forms are DUE MONDAY, MAY 6, 2024. While electronic registration is preferred, paper forms are also available and can be picked up in your child’s school office. Completed forms are also available and accepted at the Redding School District’s office located at 5885 E. Bonnyview Road. Class scheduling requires a few weeks, therefore, Redding School District Summer School class assignments will not be sent home until the week of May 20th.

The personnel in those offices do not have Summer School information.
